Like many other County History Societies, SANHS is beginning to grapple with some issues emerging from publishing an annual volume of Proceedings of the Society.  Cost of putting together the work, typesetting the document, printing and despatching the paper copy to Members and associates is challenging when funds are in short supply.

The Society's Publications Committee is developing a draft policy for managing the balance of paper and electronic copies of Proceedings and their distribution and access on the www respectively.  The Finch Report of 2012 has raised the stakes and members of the community of best practice are beginning to respond.

The response from the Royal Historical Society is here at http://www.royalhistoricalsociety.org/RHSPresidentE-letterOctober2012.pdf
